Learning Goal: to build community and get to know others in the room. Also, to demonstrate our critical thinking and writing skills.
1. Gallery Walk
- think about when you spend time outdoors
- what are the most important items to take with you?
- why?
- using the images Ms Weir has around the room, rank them 1-5 (1 being most important, 5 being least important) - tent, pocket knife, flint, rope, tarp
- be prepared to defend your thinking
2. Google Drive discussion
3. Using your own life as inspiration, what would you create a survival guide about? (surviving high school, zombie apocalypse, family vacations, etc.)
- search the web to see if anyone has made a video about your topic
- critique his or her video -> what did he or she do well? was it funny? did it make sense? were the tips helpful? etc.
- copy the link (or insert the video) into a Google Doc and share it with Ms Weir
4. One aspect of the class I would like us to attempt is for each person to create a website and update it regularly. We will spend the rest of the time talking about how to do this and working on getting your personal site up and running.
